Hydroponic Ebb & Flow
(Flood System) Basics |
These are the general components
necessary for a flood system. (Refer to the diagram below)
1. Light - comes complete with reflector, bulb and
ballast.
2. Tray - holds the medium and water during flooding. Medium which plants grow in comes in
several varieties. Making your own table to support the tray is often necessary and can
save money. Milk crates or a self constructed wood table are the most common.
3. Reservoir to hold the water and nutrients. (nutrients also come in different types)
4. Pump for moving water up to tray. Water drains back through pump into reservoir when
flooding is complete.
5. Two timers are necessary to turn light and pump on and off. Watering occurs 4-6 times a
day during the lighting cycle of 12-14 hrs. |
