Fluorescent bulbs are the ideal choice for starting seeds, clones, or to give your houseplants a winter light boost. A combination of warm and cool bulbs will give you a more complete spectrum for growing, and for clones or seeds its best to go with all cool bulbs. You can typically keep fluorescent lights about 3" above seedlings and clones without doing damage, and you will end up with the stockiest seedlings you ever had.
