Organic Feeding Schedule (N-P-K)
(Plant nutrition should be
viewed as two-stages.)
Weeks 1 - 6 Stage one promotes vegetative growth.
During this stage plants require a good source of
Nitrogen. This will promote thick, dense compact growth
and maximize the potential number of flowering sites.
Midwest recommends a liquid vegetative fertilizer for
this stage. Consider using a dry vegetative nutrient as
a time release top dressing to insure complete plant
nutrient.
Weeks 7 - 16 Stage two promotes fruiting and
flowering. During this stage plants require a good
source of Phosphorus. This will promote strong, extra
long multiple blooms and fruit. Midwest recommends a
liquid bloom fertilizer for this stage. Consider using a
dry bloom nutrient as a time release top dressing to
maximize production.
Weeks 1 – 16 Try a few supplements during the
growing season, any supplement Midwest offers will
compliment your base fertilizers. These supplements will
supercharge your nutrient regiment. Some recommended
supplements include Mycorrhizal Fungi, Enzymes, Soil
Micro-Organisms, Humic Acid, Micro Nutrients, and
Seaweed Extracts. You’ll find Potassium (K) supplements
in this section.
Liquid vs. Dry? Liquid nutrients are mixed prior to watering the
plants, the nutrients are delivered to the plants more
quickly and effectively. Dry nutrients are typically
used as a top dressing or lightly mixed in the soil. Dry
nutrients are used as a time release fertilizer. Liquid
and dry nutrients can be used together to complement
each other.
